Today is officially the shortest post of my blogging career.
It’s not because I ran out of things to say – don’t worry, I’ve years of stuff left in me
– but because the ’something’ I want to share this weekend needs even fewer words than usual.
Without intending to, this clip says so much about the world we’ve created (enjoyable and not so much). It’s a video that’s been ‘doing the rounds’ and creating quite an amazing stir (no! .. it’s not Christian the Lion, though that’s awesome too).
Britain’s Got Talent – Susan Boyle
I’m guessing that as I missed it, there’s a chance you did too. If you haven’t seen it, I URGE you to watch it. If you have, then watch it again and again.
Sorry to make you follow the link but the YouTube embedding was disabled.
My thanks to Tim Brownson at The Discomfort Zone for bringing it to my attention today, and for a great blog that ALWAYS makes me laugh and nod wisely at the same time, which can’t be bad! Oh .. also he’s another Brit and, frankly, we Brits need all the good publicity we can get.
I’ve absolutely no idea why I wrote that last sentence. But I’ll stop here before I have to go and think of another title for the post.
Have a great weekend.

This is me..not improving the silence, but letting you know that I’m listening…err…reading that is
Hi Ian — ah, what a coincidence, I feel like I’m pulling a Susan Boyle right now by finally working on my songs after years of neglecting my musical side.
No matter how many times I see it, I still almost cry every time.
@Jay Just hearing (or reading) that you’re listening (or reading) is definitely an improvement on silence!
@Chris Are you sure it’s coincidence? When can we expect to hear something from you?
@Stephen It has that impact on everyone!
Thanks for sharing this post. I was completely unaware of this video, very very moving speaks so much about life, it is a good healthy dose of inspiration and encouragement.
Thank you
I love that clip. It sill amazes me. I hope that we don’t forget her and just move on to the next new thing.
Ian, I always loved this Susan Boyle’s controversial because what happened their proof that stupid idea of stereotyping people. I liked the shock on the judes’ faces because this is a wake-up call for to stop stereotyping people and to start dealing with them as ‘humans’
Love her simplicity
@Kimberley So I wasn’t the only person who missed it! There were at least 2 of us!
@Karl My guess is that many will forget her. But the beauty of YouTube is that it keeps things alive. I didn;t check but I heard that this was the 5th most viewed clip ever.
@Hicham I know! It’s such a powerful wake up call. For me too!
